Myvatn Hiking Trip

I took this hiking trip almost two weeks ago, but have been shooting and editing videos like crazy. Thus, my tardiness!

This is a small lake of geothermal water next to the
powerplant in Myvatn - the turquoise is surreal!

This giant crater was fun to walk around - we traveled the entire rim.

This might have been my favorite hike - the ground was still
steaming and hot in places from a volcanic eruption
a couple decades ago!

The mud pots were really cool to check out (also stinky).
I wanted to touch them so bad, but we were warned many times
that they are boiling hot...

Northern Iceland Excursion

On a recent trip around northern Iceland, I took a ton of photos that will be excellent inspiration material for projects!
Day 1: We took a boat to Drangey Island, learned about Grettir's Saga, hiked around, and ended the day at the Myvatn Nature Baths (good end to the day).

Drangey Island - so many Puffins!

Day 2: We went on a whale watching expedition, hiked around the Dimmuborgir lava formations and the Godafoss waterfall.

Nes Artist Residency, ICELAND

Skagaströnd, Iceland
I'm excited to be writing this post from Iceland, where I'm in the midst of an artist residency!  I'll be here, Nes Artist Residency, through the end of July.

View from the walking paths around Skagaströnd
While I'm here I'll be working on a series of drawings about melting glaciers, and continuing a series of performances I started in January.

Another view from the walking paths around Skagaströnd
Next week I'll be traveling around Northern Iceland, and there will surely be photos... keep an eye out for them!

Puffin Foundation Grant!

I am excited to announce I have received a Puffin Foundation Grant to support an exhibition of my work!

The exhibit will feature drawings from my forthcoming 2-month stay at NES Artist Residency in Skagaströnd, Iceland.

Skagaströnd is a small village of 508 inhabitants in rural Iceland. The town is located in the Northwest of Iceland, about a four hour drive from Reykjavík.
