Billboard Art Project in Atlanta GA

This photo was taken in Duluth MN, 2011
... it might be the work on display in Atlanta!
I just received notice that my image(s) from a previous Billboard Art Project show have been selected to be included in a special, week long segment of The Billboard Art Project's current Atlanta show. Guest curator Katerina Lanfranco has included my work in Color Shift, her personal selection of images that will run for the next week, October 13 - 19.

I'm not sure which images will be there (perhaps the one pictured here?), but if you're in Atlanta, it's definitely worth checking out!

Mueller — an intermedia artist — focuses on humans' resistance to change and a struggle for control. How these efforts display themselves is the subject of the works collected in this exhibition, which includes large-scale paintings and video works. Recurrent visual themes include corporate management structures, cult dynamics, and Sisyphean tasks. Although these works share many specific, personal associations and a dry sense of humor, the audience is invited to develop personal narratives and explanations for each piece.

This photographic exhibition explores and juxtaposes the idea of humankind's harmonious existence with nature alongside its inescapable tendency to dominate and master its environment, controlling it for its own needs. While Ellen Mueller concentrates on issues of intrusion upon nature by focusing on manifest destiny through the lens of satire with her photography, David Luke conversely reveals the thoughtful connection between humankind and its environment through photographic diptychs which pair food sources with a complimentary water source. Though different in approach, both artists congruently create a discourse for us, highlighting our differing relationship with Nature.
